The Egyptian Ministry for Urban Renewal and Informal Settlements (MURIS) and the Cairo Governorate are organising an international competition by invitation to design a master plan for the Maspero Triangle, a 35 ha land in central Cairo that homes over 14,000 residents.
The goal of the competition is to develop a model urban planning concept that encourages mixity in the community, preserves heritage, protects the environment, and does not inspire a gentrification that would strip inhabitants of their diversities.
This pilot project should serve as a guide for other developments in Cairo.
